My bio

Sarah Paul has been teaching cello lessons since 1988. She has been teaching in metro Atlanta since 1996. Besides instructing students in her home studio, she has coached the cellists at Westminster Schools and has taught private lessons and group classes at the Waldorf School of Atlanta. She also conducted the Atlanta Suzuki String Orchestra from 1997-2002. Prior to returning to the Atlanta area, she taught cello lessons and string orchestra for six years at the Potomac School in McLean, Virginia. Ms. Paul is also active as a performer. She plays regularly with the chamber music ensemble that she founded in 1996, Amati Chamber Music. She has performed with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, the Gwinnett Philharmonic, the Cobb Symphony, and with the symphonies of Savannah, Macon, and Augusta. She was formerly the Principal Cellist of the Augusta Symphony. Sarah has a Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University and also holds a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Maryland.

I enjoy working with young cellists, and I have excellent rapport with them. My teaching is geared to the individual needs and aspirations of each of my students-the materials that we use (music, exercises, etc.) are individualized according to each student's needs. My students play at various levels: some are more ambitious than others, and some require more help. As long as they are interested in learning, cooperative in lessons, and willing to do their part by practicing between lessons, I am glad to help each student find success at his or her own level.
