Hi! First of all, thank you for taking a few minutes to learn a bit about me!

My name is Derek and I am a musician. I have been playing guitar for 8 years now. I am a very well rounded player, with improvisation being my strength. I play rock, blues, R&B, metal, jazz, alternative, punk, pop and much more. Whether you're a beginner or intermediate/advanced player, I have a lot to offer anywhere from technique to songwriting to playing with attitude.

Every player has different goals, so contacting me with your goals would be the best way to see if I'm the right instructor for you. I can also help you form goals, as it is always important to have an idea where you want to go with your music endeavors, whether it is being able to sit at the campfire and play a song or use your creativity to jam along with anybody at any moment!

I am currently studying for a specialist certificate in music theory at Berklee College of Music online, although I am already familiar with the material, especially as applied to guitar. I also have a lot of experience being a guitar tech, as well as recording, sound engineering, and pro audio. After finishing my schooling for music theory, I plan on attending school for music production and engineering.

I teach beginner to intermediate-advanced players, through fundamental exercises to polish your technique, or intricate exercises that give your hands the dexterity and grace you need to fully express yourself and understand musical concepts.

I teach every age, as a prospective guitar players playing really depends on his or her's commitment and interest level. I believe in teaching my students in a manner which allows him or her to grow technically and creatively, but while having fun! It is always good to ask lots of questions, as questions lead to answers which lead to new interests.
