Victor C. Rupert
Mr. Rupert began his classical music studies at the age
of eight in Chicago. From the beginning he advanced
quickly and was playing in youth symphonies in the
area. He also began competing in solo competition
there. The area was teaming with musical activities for
the young musician. One of Mr. Rupert’s earliest
memories about classical music was seeing the Chicago
Symphony Orchestra performing the Tchiakovsky’s
Nutcracker Ballet. Since that time Mr. Rupert has
performed many "Nutcracker’s" living out a childhood
dream.
Some of Mr. Rupert’s early training involved playing
with the Super Group. A hand full of talented young musicians that routinely performed as a
chamber orchestra and small chamber ensembles. Mr. Rupert took full advantage of this
opportunity to learn how to be a leader and follower in chamber music. He learned this skill well
and was already playing professionally in the Shreveport Symphony when he was fourteen. He
also made his debut with orchestra performing Bach’s a minor violin concerto.
Attending music festivals to learn and perform was Mr. Rupert’s next step. He attended the
famous Aspen Music Festival at the age of fourteen and studied there in Dorothy Delay’s studio.
After attending many such summer music festivals he met Philip Lewis. Mr. Lewis was able to
convince Mr. Rupert to attend the North Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor’s
degree in violin performance.
While at North Texas Mr. Rupert continued his Orchestra career and was Concertmaster of the
North Texas Symphony under the baton of Anshel Brusilow. While there he toured all over the
United States and Europe. He performed at Lincoln Center and for the King of Spain. While in
Spain he performed for the internationally televised opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics
in Barcelona. Also while attending North Texas Mr. Rupert was a winner of the concerto
competition where he performed the Lalo Symphony Espagnole with the North Texas Orchestra.
Mr. Rupert continues his love for chamber music and has toured with quartets from New York to
Alaska. He still performs regularly and is the Artistic Director and Founder of Chamber Music
Unlimited a Non-Profit Music Organization and is the Concertmaster of the Las Colinas
Symphony. Mr. Rupert also maintains a large studio of young violinists all of which are very
talented and perform at the highest level in the Dallas area.
