Cynthia Chen is one of the most remarkable and unique musicians I have worked with.
She has a very up close and personal and first hand experience.
As a youth, she lived for many years in New Orleans absorbing the music of the south. She studied and played with some of the great legends.
Today it is difficult to find teachers from the old school.
Music has suffered because of it,but a lot of my old friends who are great musicians are turning to teaching so as to seed a new generation.
Cynthia is one of them.We have done many projects together.
In native american culture each generation passes down the knowledge to the next generation.Cynthia is one of the few who has that qualification.-Sincerely-Michael Sembello

I am delighted to recommend Ms. Cindy Chen for this position. I have been an entertainer at Pat O’ Brien’s in New Orleans since 1980, and we were the originator of the “dueling piano? concept. I have been the “entertainer trainer? for many years as well, and I held that position at the time Cindy came to work at Pat O’s.
Cindy is a talented and diligent person. Pat O’s requires a lot from their entertainers and
Cindy delivered. In addition to the obvious, which is playing and singing, the repertoire is arguably the most extensive of any club in the United States. Drawing from a worldwide clientele requires that we don’t limit ourselves to strictly “American? music, and the age range of our clientele requires that we know songs from as far back as the 1850’s to the present.
Additionally, there is an energy level which must be maintained-this is not your typical
“piano-bar? situation. We encourage audience participation, so at any given time there’s multitasking going on. Quite honestly, there aren’t a whole lot of people who, in my
opinion, do all of it well. Cindy does, and has been for almost 20 years now.

February 12, 2009 To Whom It May Concern:
This is a letter of recommendation for Cindy Chen. I’ve known Cindy for 16 years as a professional musician in the sing-along venue. Aside from being one of the few women who have successfully performed in this milieu, Cindy is an excellent player and entertainer with her knowledge of hundreds and hundreds of songs in virtually every style. She also has worked with many of the premier players in this arena and honed her skills with the best in the business.
I have found that she also has a very passionate nature about promoting the sing-along concept as it was originally envisioned and created. Her grasp of the concepts embracing this unique style of entertainment is second to none. I would heartily recommend her as a teacher/consultant to anyone who desires to learn how to grow in their understanding of this style of performance.
To qualify my appraisal of her abilities, I have been performing in sing-along for more than 17 years. I have been a staff player at rooms in Louisville, KY; Cincinnati, OH; Orlando, FL; Myrtle Beach, SC; Lexington, KY; Mooresville, IN; Bentonville, AR; and Charlotte, NC. I have performed as a free lance player in San Diego, CA; Tacoma, WA; Rochester, NY; Grand Rapids, MI; Las Vegas and Reno, NV; Fayetteville, AR; Pensacola, FL; Minneapolis, MN; Milwaukee, WI; and Omaha, NE as well as cruise ship, state fair, and corporate functions. I have been an Entertainment Director in four rooms and a consultant for three start-ups.
