My bio

The focus of study in Mr.Mazur's studio is on performance. Every lesson will be spent preparing the student not for only the next performance, but equipping the student with the tools needed to be a superior performer inside and outside the studio, and continue beyond their time with him during a lesson. Foreign languages and proper diction is taught during the course of study including Italian, German, Spanish, French and English.

Above all, students will be encouraged to sing with a full, easy and healthy solo singing voice. A solid technique makes a solid singer and musician and will allow a student to sing in a variety of styles and venues safely and above all, happily.

In 2012 Joshua performed the role of the Officer with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra in their production of THE BARBER OF SEVILLE and the role of "Giuseppi" with the Florida Southern College opera theater in a performance of THE GONDOLIERS. Recently he performed the bass role in a performance of THE MESSIAH with Englewood United Methodist Church on their annual concert series as well as several performances as a soloist and cover with the Bach Festival of Central Florida (Fall 2011). Joshua has also performed roles in SAVITRI (Death), and LA VIDA BREVE (Manuel) with the Florida Southern College Opera Theater.

In 2010 he made his debut as a solist in the role of the Sergeant of the Police in THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, also with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, and was invited the following year to perform as baritone soloist in the Lucia Sextet on the ISO's opera gala fundraiser alonside MET artists Mark Thomsen and Stella Zambalis.

In 2008 Joshua appeared not on stage, but in the pit as a bassoonist in a production of "The Barber of Seville" with the Lakeland Opera Theater and conducted a performance of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" as Assistant Conductor for the company's 2008-2009 season.

He has participated in masterclasses with Stella Zambalis, Mark Thomsen, Jennifer Larmore, James Caraher, Therese Lindquist, and Thomas Potter.

In 2011 he contributed vocals to the soundtrack for "The Voices of Mariel," a film about the participants of the Mariel boat lift in 1980. (http://voicesfrommariel.com/blog/)

Joshua is also a two time winner of the "Most Promising Singer" award from the Tampa Bay chapter of NATS

Payment Policy: I ask to be paid four lessons at a time in advance. Initially, we will do a trial period of two weeks paid on a week by week basis before a student decides if I am a good fit for their needs.

Cancellations: If I must cancel a lesson for any reason, we will make up that lesson or payment for that lesson will be forwarded to the next month. If the student must cancel a lesson, they are responsible for scheduling a make-up lesson within the week. Otherwise, payment for a cancelled lesson will still be required. I ask for 48 hours notice of a cancellation and I accept death in the family, severe personal illness (fever), or a major car accident the day of the lesson as extenuating circumstances. Other extenuating circumstances are up to my discretion. Cancellation for extenuating circumstances is understood and payment for that lesson will be forwarded to the next month. If a student cancels a lesson for non-extenuating circumstances the week a payment is due, they are still responsible for payment for the cancelled lesson.
